What is Cookie pool definition ?

Cookie pool is a term mostly used in site retargeting context. The cookie pool is made of all visitors who have been cookied during a visit on the merchant’s website and who can therefore be fetched back on the retargeting network.

The cookie pool can be divided in different segments with different pixel tags set on different pages of the site (homepage, category page, product page, etc..).

Usually it is a cookie from the site-retargeting company which is implemented in visitor’s browsers by the way of pixel tags that are placed on the merchant site.

Thus, the retargeting cookie pool is distinct from an eventual pool of cookies directly used by the merchant or other marketing vendors.
