Google play is the marketplace where you can download apps for smartphones running under the Android operating system bought and developed by Google.
Google Play hit 600,000 apps and 20 billion total installs in June 2012, a little short of the 650 claimed apps on Apple Store.
Downloading apps on Google Play may be free or not. For the apps requiring payment, Google takes a 30% commission on the apps price. The publisher thus obtains 70% of the price. Google Play can be accessible by classic web access or more often directly from a smartphone.
