What is Interstitial ad definition ?

An interstitial ad is an ad unit which appears before the expected content. The insterstitial can appear before an entry page or between two webpages on a site.

Interstitials can be static, video or rich media ads and last 5 to 15 seconds.

Interstitials have good visual impact but are intrusive. Therefore they are usually capped to one exposure per day.

Interstials are also called splash page for a placement before the entry page.
