What is Promoted Twitter account definition ?

A promoted Twitter account is a misleading term as it is not a kind of Twitter account but an advertising offer to promote a classic Twitter account.

Promoted accounts are displayed in the Who to Follow widget on the left side of the Twitter.com homepage, on the Who to Follow page, in search results and on profile pages as part of the Similar to you widget.

The "Follow" offer targets users who have been identified as most likely to have interests similar to the promoted account topic.

Promoted Account campaigns can be geo-targeted at the country level and at the DMA level within the U.S.

Promoted accounts are charged on a cost per follower (CPF) basis.

The ad is labeled as "Promoted" to distinguish it from "organic" recommended accounts.

For small businesses promoted accounts can be created through Twitter’s self-service advertising platform. Reporting is also available on the platform interface (see below).
